Farne Islands Trip

What a wonderful day I had in fabulous scenery with perfect weather. I didn't manage tpo capture puffins in flight that were in focus, surprise surprise! But I did manage these.

More Farne Island Pictures

Here are some of my pictures from the Farne Islands trip. The seals were shot from the boat as we approached Staple Island. For the birds, I concentrated on trying to get flight shots as these were the most challenging. The puffins in particular were difficult, but I did manage to get a few.

Farne Islands

Here are a few of my pics from the Farnes. Unfortunately the mating razorbills were backlit and too far away for fill-in flash.

Farne Isles

As with Simon not many puffins but glad to have the terns as obliging, albeit one angry mum blessed me with a present all over my camera. The sailing ship was a bonus and may be a contender with our seascape theme - well you do have to think of these things!!!

One Good Tern?

Yesterday's Farnes trip was blessed by good weather (again!). Still didn't manage too many 'puffin in flight' shots - I wish they didn't move so fast - but here are a few from my full memory card.

Farne Islands return

A few people have expressed an interest in repeating last year's trip to the Farne Islands, so I will arrange a repeat run if there is enough interest. In order not to clash with the Malham weekend, I suggest the date of Wednesday 29th June - which is just about a week later than we went last year. Cost is likely to be around £27 for the trip to Inner Farne & Staple Island - about 5 1/2 hour outing in total. If anyone is interested, leave contact details on the list at the AGM next week or email me at simon-AT-sandlallen.co.uk (replace -AT- by @)

Farne Islands 2010

I've decided to add a few photos at a time as it will take me ages to sort them all out.  I feel that I improved this year compared to my first, shorter, visit last year.  Definitely want to try again next year.

More Farne Islands Photos

Choosing these was a real problem- so many puffin photos! I am giving you a less conventional one - more Angel of the North from behind. I am also putting a seal photo in. Hope you like them and thanks again to Simon for organising it.
