A good source for Photoshop Tutorials
If you want to know how to achieve things in Photoshop there are loads of good tutorials from a very knowledgeable photographer here http://www.crhfoto.co.uk/knowhowlist.htm . Clive uses the full version of Photoshop but a lot of the tips would work in Elements too.

A link worth looking at
There are some fantastic images on this site http://www.utah3d.net/. They are all 360 degree panoramas. Let the pictures load then drag your cursor. Don't forget to drag up and down as well as sideways.

Birds in the snow
The recent snow caused us problems but it was a matter of life or death for birds. We've kept the feeders topped up and often see more than 30 birds at a time, many of them on the snow eating the spillage from the feeders. Goldfinches are messy eaters and fling out more seed than they eat.
It was very unusual to see a goldfinch on a fat feeder. The first Brambling of the winter arrived on 1st January. A few days later I saw one of them on the snow looking very lifeless. I brought it inside and tried to warm it up. It ate some seed and after a while it became more active so I put it outside again. Sadly, late in the day, I went outside to pick up a blue-tit that had crashed into the window and found the brambling had died also.
Lensless Landscapes by Steve Gosling
Steve Gosling will be talking about his Lensless Landscapes in conjunction with Stockton Camera Club. There is more information on the Notice Board page of the club website or at club meetings.
I have seen Steve's lensless landscape pictures in Joe Cornish's gallery at Northallerton and they are very good.

RPS Distinctions Day
The Northern Region of the RPS are holding a Distinctions Day on Sunday 18th April 2010 at Backworth Hall, Backworth, near Newcastle.
Attending an RPS Distinctions Day is highly recommended for anybody who is thinking of applying for LRPS, ARPS or FRPS. Three members of various RPS distinctions assessment panels (all Fellows of the RPS) will explain the necessary requirements and show some successful panels. Those people who are nearly ready can arrange to take their proposed panel for comment. The panel doesn't have to be completely ready but should show the direction in which you are working. Those who aren't quite ready but want to know if their work is up to standard can go along as observers.
Participants £15, Observers £10. There is a buffet lunch at £5. Advanced Booking is essential and more information can be found on the Notice Board page of the club website or at club meetings.

Have you got any pictures of the Stokesley area in the snow?
I'm sure most of you will have lots of pictures taken in the recent snow. Why not share one or two of them with us. Here are two of mine taken last Saturday.

This is your opportunity
I have set up this blog as a means for SPS members to communicate with each other. Once you have been authorised to post on the blog you will be able to add information, news, pictures or any other thing which you think other SPS members will be interested in. Or ask a question - somebody might know the answer.
Send me an e-mail if you would like to be registered to post.
